Thanks Rich!
This helps explain at least part of the reason why "Patent Pending"
seems to be more label dominant than "U.S. Patent #1234567890". I've
always seen it as a marketing gimmick more than anything else but 4
years is definitely long enough to justify things a bit further than a
gimmick and more towards a necessity, especially in legitimate
"patent-is-possible-if-not-guaranteed" cases.
