Once again I'm chairing the XML track at Software Development 2006 West
in Santa Clara, CA next March. The call for papers is still open at
http://www.cmpevents.com/SDw6/a.asp?option=N
We've got some good submissions already, but there's room for more.
However, the deadline is August 6, only one week away, so if you're
thinking about submitting please do it soon. The conference tends to be
a little more practically focused than shows like Extreme and XML 2005.
i.e. the attendees do not hang out on xml-dev. They're developers in
other fields who happen to use some XML in their work. Topics of
interest include:
Parsing APIs and libraries (SAX, DOM, XOM, JDOM, StAX, System.Xml, etc.)
XSLT
XPath
Schema Languages
XML Data Binding
New Language developments (E4X, Cw, etc.)
New client side technologies: XForms, Web Forms 2.0, AJAX, etc.
This is not specifically an XML show. Basic intros to a technology
probably work better than sessions aimed at fellow experts. For
instance, we'd rather have a session on how to use StAX than a session
discussing optimization techniques for StAX parser implementers.
There are also many other tracks on Java, .NET, testing, C++, web
services, and a new grab bag track this year for anything hot we
couldn't fit into the other areas. Please submit, and I hope to see some
of you in the speaker's lounge!
