Yes - I suspect it is extremely similar - I spent a lot of time 
reading XLink and at one stage tried to use it. I think I was afraid 
of having to implement the whole of XLink when I only wanted a smaller amount.

(I should say that my default environment is Java).

Possibly I want something that layers on a DOM or XOM and which I can 
query for links and have them verified and actuated.
