java 6 XMLReaderFactory

Can anyone tell me if Sun has finally fixed their XMLReaderFactory class 
in Java 6 such that

XMLReader reader = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader();

finally works? Or is it still necessary to play games with the 
environment variables and classpath just to load a basic XML parser?
