You had to be there. Some of were still concerned about how to specify
what switches to depress to load a binary value into an address or
register when these things were designed.
So to take it one step further - what do the "modern" xml things do when
trying to interpret my example.
I know that libxml2 tries to treat it as octal - and that causes me
grief. What does Saxon do? Do we have a list of behaviors for xml/xsl
interpreters?
This would make a good addition to Roger's lists of real life conventions.
