Roger,
Although we could create a permathread on this topic, a more interesting question in my mind is - What is the basis for the question?

Subject: [xml-dev] Is "XML" an abbreviation or an acronym?
Hi Folks,
Is "XML" an abbreviation or an acronym?
In an XHTML document, should "XML" be marked up like this:
<abbr title="Extensible Markup Language">XML</abbr>
or like this:
<acronym title="Extensible Markup Language">XML</acronym>
Thanks!
/Roger
