The discovery of the identity template, plus variations. This should be
the very trick taught, as it embodies how XSLT is supposed to be used.

Then, understanding that match path expressions to select nodes may
become pretty complicated (like SQL WHERE clauses), but that match
patterns may stay simple by comparison.
