XMLOut - generating xml from programs

I gave a talk at Balisage this year about providing APIs for writing XML
from non-XML data in languages such as C, PHP and Perl (and maybe java),
as well as JavaScript.
I've blogged a bit about it and this week have set aside a little time
to work more on it. It's not a W3C effort particularly (at least not
now) but there was enough positive feedback from Balisage and elsewhere
that it seems worth doing more.
The goal is to make it easier to generate well-formed XML from non-XML
data in programs - so, not serializing a DOM tree, and not doing data
binding, and not a templating engine..., but helping people write conf
files, RSS, Web pages, whatever, from programs.
