Schemas are an excellent source for mining test cases (good luck trying that with JSON) plus if you shift your paradigm a bit an Examplotron schema gives you a heck of alot of test cases for very little cost and it is alot more effective than some of the approaches to testing XML apps out there.

Good luck trying to use JSON for that.
