Every list should be configured so that Reply goes to the original poster, and Reply All goes to the list, because on every kind of list there should be a way to conveniently reply privately to the original poster.

If the user's mail client does not provide both Reply and Reply All, it is woefully out of date and should be replaced.

If the mail clients of the list members do not dedupe email, that is very unfortunate, but they too should be replaced.
