I am sorry to have missed yesterday's meeting (calendar SNAFU). I
agree with your assessment; template-based specialization should
not be a linchpin of the proposal. Rather, I look on this activity
as an investigation that, if proven practicable, can be later
promoted (venue to be determined, maybe dita.xml.org by that time)
as a best practice for adopters and implementers (insofar as it
involves coding that is not "standardizable").
STC is soliciting papers at the moment. That could be another
opportunity for publication with some potential face time for a SC
member who can present, if it is accepted.
