What order of precedence should be applied if more than one attribute has the Attribute Default qualifier? > The two options cannot co-exist. The standard, as currently written, can be interpreted in both ways. The only logical and sensible solution is to accept that both options are conformant. I think we would all prefer that only one option be supported. But we not get consensus on which option in this forum. And by the way, what real damage is done by allowing both behaviours? There are plenty of other places where different server implementations, or configurations, will validly result in different behaviours as seen by different clients. From a client SDK perspective having two behaviors is very bad news.   Frankly, we already have a hard time describing to our customers how to use KMIP.    In certain cases we have to write their code for them.   Now how do I explain to a customer these two behaviors?    And how to I describe to a customer then when they write a client with my SDK that they have to take care of both cases?   That is a non-sell for KMIP.      I am not saying which way the behavior should be and frankly I don't know.    Now if the current specification allows both then we as a TC need to fix that.    Why not just make a ballot and let the group vote?   And then create an errata for KMIP 1.2    Just a proposal.
