XML.org update and EdBoard call reminder: New phone #

DITA XML.org Editorial Board:

The freeconferencecall.com phone number we've been using has expired. For
future EdBoard calls, please use: +1-712-451-6000, access code: 380278. Our
next call is Thursday, 11 Oct, 2:00 pm EST.

We've made a lot of progress on the site. Here's a brief update of what's been
done:

1. Integrated Knowledge base into the Wiki section; redirected KB links.

2. Added WIKI link to the horizontal nav.

3. Converted WIKI section to a Drupal "book", so ToC appears in the "Parent"
drop down menu for new pages.

4. Customized the "Create content" page http://dita.xml.org/node/add, e.g.,
changed "create book page" to "create wiki page". Note: unregistered users
cannot see this page.

5. Created automated Drupal "Contact" form; redirected old "/contactus" node to
new form.

6. Deleted Forum for "Feedback on this site" (in favor of new contact form).

7. Changed page titles from blue to black so they aren't confused with live
links, per Sue Laine's request.

8. Installed Site map module. See http://dita.xml.org/sitemap.

9. Moved KB FAQs to the Forum.

**Issues to discuss on Thursday's call**

Homepage: Do we want to post teasers of all recent content here instead of
links to Blog headlines? If yes, should <soapbox> be sticky or not?

Sitemap: Is this acceptable? If so, we can remove the footer site nav in favor
of this automatically generated page.

Wiki "About DITA": KB pages I was unsure about are linked under "Other" at
http://dita.xml.org/wiki. Do we want to create an "About DITA" section in the
Wiki for these as Scott suggested, or delete these pages or integrate them into
other sections?

Wiki "Spec" section: Do we want to post the DITA spec in the wiki with a
disclaimer that comments are unofficial until submitted formally through OASIS?

Navigation: Are we generally happy with the current navigation? If not, what
changes do we want to make? Is there anything at http://bpel.xml.org/ that we
want to incorporate?

Forums: Use of forums may pick up now that new Forum posts are published under
"Recent content". If we decide to publish teasers of new posts on homepage,
that will help too. Are we happy with the Forum section as-is? Do we need to
consolidate some of the ones that aren't being used?

Recent content box: Do we think the date stamps are useful here or does this
extra text get in the way?

Thanks,
Carol
