Exactly!
Two ways of using it come to mind.
(a) using a PI to switch this on and off. This is sufficiently fundamental
that it might be made an XML PI (<?XML EVENTSTREAM?> and <?XML TREE?>) or
similar
(b) certain GIs or attributes could toggle this (e.g. <HTML>)
