I have been disturbed by the amount of confusion surrounding the XML
Namespaces Recommendation. So I have written a document

  http://www.jclark.com/xml/xmlns.htm

that tries to explain the mechanism specified by the XML Namespaces
Recommendation. It explains things in a somewhat different way which I
hope at least some people may find less confusing than the explanation
in the Recommendation.

Constructive suggestions for improvement are welcome.

James
