All true, Lauren. Yet it does not relieve the working groups of
the responsibility for documenting issues and resolutions with regard
to the contents of the work. Such procedures have been established
and have worked in standards organizations for years. It is time for
the W3C to develop and use these procedures. The results of not doing
so
are plain to all. It is the responsibility of those who undertook
XML to do what is needed. That is the leadership, price and payment.
Tim Berners-Lee must begin to restructure the leadership roles and
responsiblities of the W3C to reflect the growing community. It is time
for a touch of Washingtonian sagacity about the nature, use and
preservation of power.
