Because I couldn't do that within the context of ADEPT*Editor and a FOSI
to enable on-screen rendering of the documents *as authored*. In this
environment, doing a transform is not possible (because you're inside
the editor). In addition, doing a down-transformation in other places
may cause you to lose information you need for other processing purposes
(such as generating index entries in the same process that composes the
pages).
