Subject: List Admin Issue: Emails bouncing back to the sender.
Does anyone else find this irritating? When I post to the list, I
invariable get several messages back from subscribers, where there is a
problem with delivery.
When you personally get messages like this it is because the recipient's
email system is ill-behaved, otherwise known as broken.
I don't particularly care that the message to "emilazzo@ebsdr.com" was
undeliverable, or that Craig Pfeifer is out of the office. No offence
intended to those individuals but the point is *I* never sent them any
emails. Is there a way the list could be changed so that this does not
occur?
Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done by any list system that
would fix this. However, there is something you can do.
If you, or anyone, ever gets a failed mail message from a subscriber,
please forward that message to:
xml-dev-help@lists.xml.org
The failed message will get processed, i.e., the subscriber will be
removed. Note that if we don't know about the failure there is nothing
we can do. So please do forward such messages.
Note, too, that while other list systems may use other conventions
besides "-help" to reach a person, you should always forward such
messages to the list owner for any list.
Thanks.
PS. Since I sent this message to the list I'll no doubt get a few of
these ill-behaved failed mail messages. You can be sure I'll be taking
care of those subscribers.
