XML databases allow you to do XPath queries on very large XML documents or
large collections of XML documents using indexed retrieval to speed things up.
One example of such an XML database is Tamino, from Software AG, my
employer. You can download a trial copy for 90 days for free, and renew for
a second 90 day free period if you need to. The URL is:

Other companies including products that allow queries on large XML
documents using XML include Infonyte (http://www.infonyte.com/) and Excelon
(http://www.exceloncorp.com/), which each offer their own trial downloads.
