Wow, that is really the way standards should be! Concise, practical,
based on proven or widespread technology, and with some benefit to
being standardized (or draft-standardized). Congratulations Simon!
One benefit of it is that it evaporates (my) distain for the xpointer() schema.
Rather than thinking of xpointer() as dooming linking because of ranges,
with the advent of xpath1() xpointer() becomes a nice niche addition.
Why didn't we have this two years ago?
