It would be interesting to know what he means by

    "Even worse, standards are getting accepted before they are even written, 
    which is a truly ridiculous situation. "

That one sounds like a load of crap, at least as far as any of the standards processes 
I have seen.  I would say the problem is special interests using standards bodies
to block standards that might expose them to liability or cost.
