Well, there is Flash Remoting:

So if you want a complete DOM (at least, that's what the marketing folks
are saying), and you have a thousand bucks to drop (in addition to the
cost of Flash)...

For true SVG diehards, there's this:

If nothing else, perhaps Flash Remoting could facilitate translations to
SVG. ;-)
