i hope it is in linux land - we've been running 64bit solaris for a few
years and are about to install linux based itanium 2 ibm multi processor
(subject to budget approval, etc, etc, etc) running linux - our database
system compiled natively on it - just like it is on the sparc
but at 5 to 10 times the cost of a 32 bit server you have to need the
power to justify the cost
i'm pretty sure we're nowhere near the first to try
