RSS/Atom may be a fine format for that; I don't have any reason to 
think otherwise.  What worries me would be using the overall 
RSS+HTTP+Aggregator architecture for this purpose.

It's hard to keep track of when some people are referring to "RSS the 
format" and when they are referring to "RSS+HTTP+Aggregators, the 
ecosystem."
