Well I'm pleased to announce the upcoming release of what we believe is the
worlds first ever XML based Accounting system - ComputerGrid. Designed to
provide XML trading capabilities for small Businesses, it will be launched at
ceBit Sydney May 23-26, Darling Harbour, Australia.
The rap...
Traditionally, Accounting software has been written with data stored across
many tables in an RDBMS.
This new product allows Small Businesses to enter Quotes, Purchase Orders and
Invoices in a similar fashion to what they are used to, only that the data is
now stored as fully formed XML documents in a document register layout.
The advantages of this approach are:
- fewer tables, under 10 to implement a basic debtors/creditors
system sans General Ledger.
- easier flow of data in and out because there is no complicated
integration/translation required.
- direct sending of the documents created
- potential for unlimited extension via XML interfaces
The package has undergone a certain amount industrial testing and will be an
initial release. Currently, a download page is not yet available but this
will be available by the start of cebit.
Pricing is not yet set, but it will be within the reach of small business. A
special offer is likely to be available for xml-dev. All of the componentry
neccessary to understand the product will be open source.
See it in operation at ceBit
Regards
David Lyon
