I started to reply:
Unlikely. After writing the rng appendix it's so easy to trang yourself
another couple of appendices for dtd and xsd, and it saves the end user
the trouple of doing it themselves, that the temptation to do all three
may be overwhelming...
But then I actually looked again at xhtml2, it does have three
appendices, for rng, dtd, xsd but only the rng one actually has a schema,
the dtd and xsd ones say
This appendix will contain implementations of the modules defined in
^^^
So currently XHTML2 _is_ an example of a W3C spec which only has an rng
schema.
Of course this rng based xhtml2 hasn't proved to be overwhelmingly,
popular, before declaring victory we'd better keep an eye on html5 which
manages to do without dtd or xsd or rng, or any other recognised schema
language at all.....
