Re[2]: [xml-dev] SQL instead of XQuery

Chris,

>> I propose to use SQL instead of it
CB> SQL is a second, foreign query language to XML databases ...

As well, as XQuery is foreign query languge for rational databases.
But today's needs consist of merging rational and xml in one engine:
rational for structurized (and predictable) data,
xml for arbitrary (and not predictable beforehand) data.

CB> ... [to] object databases

What is alternative instead of SQL99
(http://www.wiscorp.com/sql1999_c3.zip ) ?

CB> Store your data in a repository suitable for its structure.

If data have no mixed nature.

CB> Don't try to pretend that XML ...
CB> can be efficiently represented or processed in the relational
CB> paradigm.

You mess up rational paradigm (this is for data) and
upgrading of rational language.
And what is 'representation of XML in rational paradigm' ??
