I don't know how you did your searching, but if you google for

XSLT 1.0 replace newline by <br>

you get 23000 hits and the first dozen or so all give you the answer.

(Perhaps your text really contains "/n" rather than newline - or perhaps it
contains "\n" - but the logic is still the same).
