With all respect to its author, who has done lots of good work on a
number of schema languages, this guide is quite old (unchanged I
believe since it was written six years ago), and quite dated. It
essentially tells you how to use XML Schema if you want to translate
DTDs literally and invest as little effort in learning XML Schema as
possible -- not an unworthy goal, but not one which covers every
contemporary use of XML Schema by any means.
Personally I find substitution groups hugely useful.
