RE: [xml-dev] Is "Hand Authoring" XML still a critical use case ?

If you ignore the more popular XML formats/languages (DocBook, DITA, ODF, XHTML, SVG, XSLT, XML Schema, etc.), for which there is good support in the XML editors and/or various visual tools, there is still a broad category of formats where you don't have such level of comfort. Be it your own custom "shopping list" vocabulary, or a just-released specification for which no authoring tools exist yet, or a specification that only you and maybe two other people in the world use. To me, it is one of the greatest values of XML that even in these situations, you can always open a text editor and create/edit the documents by hand.
