A "database" in the intellectual property sense is any collection of
uncopyrightable things that have been selected and organized in some
way that doesn't suffice to establish a compilation copyright.
Something as simple as a handwritten alphabetical list of all the
words in the King James Version is a database in this sense. The EU
makes databases protectable, but Canada and the U.S. do not.
