It really depends on the DOM implementation. In most Java implementations
I've seen it can be 5-10 larger then
It should not be the case for you because Microsoft DOM you are using is
different in that respect.
MSXML DOM footprint in cases of large files are actually smaller then
original file - the only drawback we have seen is automatic "UTF-8" to
"UTF-16" upgrade on texr node content.
