I forgot to mention in my earlier post:

When I was using the XMLHTTP component,
I couldn't find any information on the
Microsoft site about whether the component
supported SSL.

I tried passing an "https://" URL to
the open() method and it worked. So,
it's very easy to XML over an HTTPS
connection using XMLHTTP. I was expecting
more difficulty based on my experience
with Sun's JSSE and HttpsURLConnection
class.
