There is certainly an element of truth to that, but my feeling is that DTDs are
still widely used, so if rolling namespaces and XML together further marginalised
them, I would want to see concrete benefits from such a move. (Granted, they can
sort of play together, but it's probably too ugly to gain widespread acceptance.)
So far, I haven't been able see any benefit other than the fact that it's tidier.
Was it Richard Tobin who said that the two won't be rolled together anyway? Is
that definitive? (Apologies if that sounds as though I'm questioning the veracity
of that posting - I'm just after confirmation.)
