Oh come on, Jonathan.  You're promising me things that don't exist, while 
complaining that my dislike for thing that do exist is predicated on ignorance.

The examples in the use cases are reasonably interesting, 
yes.  Unfortunately they seem to be expected to fit into the strongly-typed 
universe the specification can't seem to stop attempting to explain.  (I'm 
a little puzzled that "cast as" doesn't appear anywhere in them.)

If and when it becomes clear what the simplest conformant untyped subset 
looks like, I'll be happy to write it up as a separate (non-W3C) spec.
