As a hard-core programmer, I would scramble to distance myself from such
sentiment as quickly as possible. It sounds like entirely unwarranted
arrogance. Then again, I'm not surprised. Programming has as a profession
one of the worst records of hypocrisy in its regard for the laity versus the
professionalism of its own practice.
In simpler language, programmers love to sneer at its users, while keeping
mute to the appallingly low levels of professionalism in their own ranks.
Having spent a lot of time in XML-related development, I can tell you that
programmers of XML systems have no cause to feel smug given how badly most of
us butcher markup principles in our work.
