True, but if the equilibrium punctures (say, the 
gorilla enters the scene), the inability to adapt
rapidly can have devastating consequences on 
different players at different states of resource 
availability.

That is why smart players have pre-positioned 
assets for contingent adaptation.

All in all, I think the costs of standardization have been wildly
