The over dependence of XPath2 on W3C Schema has been just about the most
consistent public criticism of the working drafts. If the public working
draft phase means anything at all, then I very much hope that this
dependence will not be "assumed" and that XPath2 will have the hooks
required to work with W3C Schema (and other schema languages), but will
not be so swamped by it as it is in the current working
draft. (Otherwise a large part of the existing XPath user base will
simply stay with Xpath 1).
