This question..."why DTD's are not the answer"...is one I answered for
myself by learning all three. It takes a little homework, but I can
recommend this approach if you want solid footing. My brief, non-definitive,
multi-part answer to this question is this:
I use DTDs when I don't care about datatypes.
I use XML Schema when forced.
I use RELAX NG because it is technically sound and, frankly, so logical and
intuitive that it's downright fun.
