Xquery, not being XML, doesn't really have a default namespace in the
sense of xpath-in-xslt, but other than that it is just a superset of
Xpath isn't it?
I can't see anything in the xquery spec that indicates any different
processing for xquery or xpath.
xpath2 and xqueryactually have a thord rule, they allow specification
of the namespace to be used for unprefied Qnames. This needn't be
no-namespace (as attributes) or the current default namepsace for
elements.
