IANA's not so brutal, but apparently pretty busy.
My urn:oid:22.214.171.124.4.1.6320 comes via a (free) IANA registry, not a
commercial provider. Pouring resources into IANA might solve a lot of
problems that can't be fixed by waving hands and proclaiming URIs the

http://monasticxml.org may be my ascetic URI
urn:oid:126.96.36.199.4.1.6320 is another possibility altogether
