Not to put words into your mouth, but I infer that you mean "...to
those on [your] keyboard". There really are keyboards in the world
that do not have Latin letters printed on the keycaps.
And that's the crux of this entire discussion, at least for me. Let
me use the characters on *my* keyboard to define the names of my
elements and attributes.
