That was the focus of my "Is the W3C Losing the Plot" post.
Is there a coherent W3C XML strategy?
If there is no clear strategy (and I suspect there isn't one) then how can one make a sensible decision about whether a generic linking technology like XLink (or an improved XLink) makes any sense in achieving the objectives of that (non-existent? or unstated?) strategy.
Without a clearer XML strategy to define the question I don't see how we can make a decision about the sense (or otherwise) of pursuing XLink over other options.
Hm ... Didn't I say I was going to look at this again on Monday morning? ... You see what you did? :)
