it doesn't need to be a single *syntax*. of course this would be the
ideal case, but if people cannot commit to a single *syntax* (for
example, because they are allergic to colons), than a single *model*
would be a good way to go, too.

well, linking used to be the foundation of the web, but it seems to be
less important to many people than hypermedia fans (such as myself...)
